Baked Philly Cheesesteak Sliders
Baked Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are a delightful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, transformed into a perfect party-friendly dish. These sliders start with small, soft rolls, ideally Hawaiian rolls for their slightly sweet flavor and fluffy texture. The rolls are sliced in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom layer.
The bottom layer of rolls is then generously layered with thinly sliced beef, traditionally ribeye for its marbling and flavor. This beef is often pre-cooked until just browned, retaining its juiciness. On top of the beef, a layer of sautéed vegetables is added, usually a combination of thinly sliced onions and green bell peppers, cooked until they are soft and caramelized, adding a sweet and savory note to the sliders.
Next, a crucial component of any Philly cheesesteak, cheese, is added. Provolone is a popular choice for its smooth melt and mild flavor, complementing the beef and vegetables without overpowering them. The cheese is evenly laid over the beef and vegetables, ensuring each slider will have a gooey, cheesy component.
The top layer of the rolls is then placed over the cheese. To finish, a flavorful glaze is often brushed over the top of the rolls. This glaze can be a mixture of melted butter, garlic, herbs, and sometimes a bit of Worcestershire sauce, adding a rich, savory finish to the sliders. The entire assembly is baked in the oven until the rolls are golden and crispy on the outside, the cheese is melted, and the flavors meld together.
Baked Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are typically served warm, often sliced along the roll seams for easy serving. They offer a combination of tender beef, melted cheese, sweet and savory vegetables, and a buttery, crispy roll that makes them irresistible. These sliders are perfect for gatherings, game days, or as a fun dinner option, encapsulating the essence of a Philly cheesesteak in a bite-sized, shareable form.
