My 5-Year-Old Son Objected to My Wedding – His Reason Made Everyone Go Pale
Diana feels happy and nervous as she gets ready to marry Tom. But her five-year-old son’s objection stuns everyone and brings the ceremony to a halt. As the guests murmur in shock, Ethan reveals a secret that makes everyone go pale. What does Ethan know about Tom that could change everything?
I stood in the small cottage beside the garden, surrounded by my bridesmaids.
It was the morning of my wedding, and I was both excited and nervous.
The cottage smelled sweet with flowers, and through the windows, I could see guests arriving and sitting down.
My bridesmaids, in soft lavender dresses, moved around me, fixing my hair and adjusting my dress.
They chatted and laughed, their joy spreading to me.
I smiled, thinking about the journey that led me here.
Tom and I had been together for three years. He came into my life when I needed him most, and he had been everything I hoped for in a partner.
More importantly, he had been a wonderful father figure for Ethan, my five-year-old son.
The bond Ethan and Tom shared was something special. They spent hours playing with toy cars, building Lego castles, or going on little adventures in the park.
Seeing them together filled my heart with happiness.
“Mama, look at me!” Ethan’s voice brought me back to the present.
I turned to see him standing proudly in his tiny suit, his blue eyes sparkling with excitement. He looked so grown up and handsome, it almost brought tears to my eyes.
“You look so smart, Ethan,” I said, kneeling down to his level. “Are you ready to help me today?”
“Yes, Mama!” he exclaimed, beaming. “I’m gonna be the best ring bearer ever!”
I hugged him tightly, feeling a rush of love and gratitude.
This day was about more than just Tom and me; it was about our little family and the future we were building together.
The cottage door opened, and one of my bridesmaids, Kelly, peeked in. “Diana, it’s almost time. Are you ready?”
I took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes, I’m ready.”
As we walked out of the cottage and into the garden, the sight took my breath away.
The aisle was lined with flowers, creating a beautiful path to the altar where Tom stood, waiting for us.
All the guests were smiling and chatting happily.
It was the perfect setting for our special day.
“Ethan, are you ready?” I whispered to my son, squeezing his little hand.
“Ready, Mommy,” he replied, his eyes bright with excitement.
We walked down the aisle, the soft music playing in the background.
I could feel the eyes of our guests on us, their warm smiles adding to the joy of the moment. Ethan looked so adorable in his suit, and his steps were confident and proud as he held my hand.
As we got closer to the altar, I saw Tom’s broad smile, his eyes shining with love and happiness. My heart swelled with emotion, and I felt a tear slip down my cheek.
Tom was the man I had always dreamed of, and today, we were making our dreams come true.
“Daddy, look at me!” Ethan called out, with a voice filled with pure delight.
Tom chuckled, his smile growing even wider. “I see you, champ. You look so smart!”
Ethan beamed, his little chest puffing up with pride. “I’m a big boy today!”
“You sure are!” Tom replied as his eyes met mine. He had a look that said everything, albeit without words.
We were a family, and today was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
As we reached the altar, Tom took my hand, and I felt the strength in his grip. “You look stunning, Diana,” he whispered.
“Thank you, Tom,” I replied with a smile. “I can’t believe this is real.”
“It’s real,” he said, smiling back. “And it’s perfect.”
I glanced down at Ethan, who was looking up at us with a big grin. “We did it, sweetheart,” I said softly.
“We did it!” he echoed, bouncing on his toes with excitement.
The officiant smiled at us and began leading Tom and me through our vows.
“Do you, Tom, take Diana to be your wife?” the officiant asked with a smile.
“I do,” Tom replied, his eyes never leaving mine.
“And do you, Diana, take Tom to be your husband?” the officiant continued.
“I do,” I said, my voice filled with emotion.
Just as the officiant was about to pronounce us husband and wife, a small but determined voice rang out from beside us. “I object!”
A gasp rose from the crowd. I turned to see Ethan standing there with a serious expression on his face. My heart skipped a beat.
Why would he say that?
“Ethan, sweetheart, why do you object?” I asked, kneeling down to be at eye level with him.
Ethan held up a small worn-out rattle, his little hand shaking slightly.
“Tom has another family, Mama! I heard him talking to his mommy about his daughter. Is Tom cheating on you, Mommy?” he asked.
The crowd began to murmur, their whispers growing louder. I felt a knot form in my stomach as I turned to look at Tom.
Everyone’s faces went pale, and Tom seemed as stunned as I was. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
The officiant looked bewildered, glancing between us and the guests.
“Ethan, what do you mean?” I asked gently, trying to understand. “What did you hear?”
Ethan lowered his gaze to the ground. “I heard Tom talking to his mommy about his daughter. He said he has a daughter, but I didn’t know about her. Why didn’t he tell us, Mommy?”
I took a deep breath, trying to process what Ethan was saying. I glanced at Tom, who finally found his voice.
“Guys, I can explain,” he began, facing the crowd.
I held up my hand to stop him. “Ethan, are you sure you heard correctly?”
“Yes, Mommy,” he insisted, his little face earnest. “Tom said he has a daughter.”
Tom took a deep breath, his eyes meeting mine. The crowd was buzzing with murmurs, everyone waiting for an explanation.
“What’s going on?” one guest whispered to another.
“Did you hear what the little boy said?” another murmured, sounding confused.
“Is there really another family?” someone asked, their voice filled with concern.
“Well, Tom, I guess it’s time you told the truth,” I said, putting an end to the murmurs.
Tom stepped forward, taking my hand in his. He looked out at the crowd and then back at Ethan.
“Ethan, buddy, you heard right. There is a baby involved, but it’s not what you think,” Tom said.
A huge gasp rang out in the gathering once again. Tom scooped Ethan up and held my hand firmly.
Tom turned to face our guests, his smile growing wider. “Everyone, we’d like to announce that we’re expecting a baby. Ethan, you’re going to be a big brother!”
“Oh my!” someone exclaimed.
“Gosh, this is not what I expected!” someone else said.
The collective shock turned into cheers and applause from the crowd. The tension melted away, replaced by joy and excitement.
“Really? I’m going to be a big brother?” Ethan asked excitedly.
I hugged him tightly, tears of joy streaming down my face. “Yes, sweetheart, you’re going to be the best big brother ever.”
Tom joined our embrace, wrapping his arms around both of us. “Ethan, I’m sorry if we confused you. We wanted to surprise everyone today.”
Ethan’s face lit up with understanding. “We’re having a little baby?”
“That’s right, champ,” Tom said, chuckling. “We’re having a baby.”
The crowd continued to cheer, the atmosphere now filled with laughter and celebration. The officiant, smiling broadly, picked up where we left off. “Well, this is certainly a special day! Let’s continue with the ceremony.”
The vows were quickly completed, and Tom and I were pronounced husband and wife. We kissed, sealing our commitment to each other and our growing family.
Later that evening, as the sun set and the garden was bathed in a soft, golden glow, I watched Tom and Ethan play together. I felt a deep sense of happiness and contentment.
Our journey together was just beginning, and it was already filled with so much love.
