Preparation of Roasted Whole Chicken
What is the secret to making the chicken taste as delicious as the one you buy on the street? The top chefs have revealed that it is all in the marinade. However, you must follow a series of steps to ensure that the homemade roasted whole chicken has a crispy skin and tender meat. Here’s what you need to do:
- The first thing you need to do is wash the chicken. Once it is dry, place it on a baking rack. This is very important, as it will allow the chicken to become completely crispy when baking.
- Next, preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- One of the most important steps is preparing the marinade, or also known as the marinade, as this is what will give flavor to the chicken. To do this, chop the sprigs of thyme and rosemary. Then place them in a bowl along with all the other ingredients mentioned above for the marinade and mix well. (If possible, let it marinate for 24 hours).
- Once it is ready, you will need to brush the chicken with the help of a kitchen brush, both inside and out.
- Slice the lemon and place it inside the chicken.
- If you do not have a baking rack, use a tray and pour 200 ml of water into it. Add 100 ml more each time it is needed.
- The baking time will depend on the amount of chicken. Therefore, we recommend following a basic rule, which is to count 30 minutes per 500 g of chicken. This will allow you to know the ideal cooking time. However, you should keep an eye on it during baking.
- Furthermore, we also recommend that during the first 40 minutes of cooking, the temperature is very low (between 150-180 °C), and then increase the temperature. This will ensure that the chicken is crispy and golden on the outside, but at the same time, it has juicy and tender meat.
- Once it is ready, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before carving.
