Charles Cyphers, the actor who portrayed a spooky movie star, passed away at the age of 85.
The actor’s manager, Chris Roe, verified that he was absent for a brief period of time.
Charles passed away in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday.
Chris stated, “Charles was a kind and loving man,” to Variety.
“You were ecstatic when he told the best stories; that was his habit.” He will be sorely missed; he was a longtime client and dear friend.
Charles portrayed Sheriff Leigh Brackett in the 1978 Halloween film.
He reprised the same role in the sequels released in 1981 and 2021.
In an interview at HorrorCon UK in 2022, Charles described being called back to do Halloween Kills, the third film in the series, as “shocking but wonderful.”
“After forty years, I’ve never been invited to appear in a film again. He declared, “The majority of people are dead.”
“I’m glad I didn’t die because they were able to save me.”
“Getting paid to do it again felt amazing.” It was pleasant. Charles remarked, “I liked it.”
Annie Brackett was portrayed by Nancy Kyes in the first two Halloween films. She discussed her on-screen father.
“I’m devastated to learn about Chuck’s passing. He was always good for a good chuckle, a kind word, or a terrific story. He was a long-time friend of mine. “It will be very missed,” she expressed in a statement.
CHARLES’S INITIAL YEARS
On July 28, 1939, Charles was born in Niagara Falls, New York.
He holds degrees from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and California State University, Los Angeles.
There, Charles earned a bachelor’s degree in theater arts.
Before he was an actor, his other job was attending Los Angeles City College.
Charles didn’t appear to be a married man with kids of his own.
ADDITIONAL PARTS
Aside from the Halloween films, Charles had a wide range of roles.
Assault on Precinct 13 was his third film with Halloween director John Carpenter, released in 1976. Once again, he portrayed Starker, a police officer.
Charles and John collaborated on The Fog (1981) as well.
Jamie Lee Curtis was featured in The Fog as well. She costarred alongside Charles in all three of the Halloween films.
Charles sees Nancy once more in the 1981 film Escape from New York.
In addition, he portrayed lead characters in numerous TV series, including Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, The Betty White Show, The Duke of Hazzard, Seinfeld, JAG, and more.
Halloween Kills was his final role in 2021.
