Melania Trump Reveals Surprising Plans For Her First 2024 Campaign Appearance
Former First Lady Melania Trump is stepping out of the shadows, telling confidants that she has accepted an invitation to speak at an unlikely gathering later this month.
According to POLITICO, the wife of former President Donald Trump believes it’s time to get out on the campaign trail in support of her husband’s attempt to return the family to the White House. While she has appeared at naturalization ceremonies for new American citizens and honored heads of state at Mar-a-Lago, her next stop will be the first formal foray into the Trump campaign’s calendar.Melania will be headlining a fundraiser on April 20th at Mar-a-Lago for the Log Cabin Republicans, which lobbies at the state and federal level for support of policies for various LGBT communities. An invitation for the event describes the Log Cabin Republicans as “the nation’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies.”The fundraiser will be in support of the group’s “Road to Victory” designed to target persuadable voters in swing states ahead of the November elections. The group has previously pledged to support President Trump, who spoke at an event for the organization in 2022.Last month, the former first lady told reporters to “stay tuned” about her next move, indicating she planned to do more than simply dish out recommendations for vice president and keep her husband in check over morning breakfasts. Most recently, she joined Trump in attending the funeral service for fallen New York City police officer Jonathan Diller, who died while shot during a foot pursuit.
The invite details a host of big-name Republicans donors supporting the event, including Saul Fox, Amanda Schumacher and Richard Grenell, Trump’s former German ambassador and acting director of national intelligence. Elizabeth Ailes, wife of deceased Fox News founder Roger Ailes, is also on the event’s host committee. Deborah Magowan, wife of San Francisco Giants owner Peter Magowen, rounds out the list.Partnering with pro-gay conservatives may prove shrewd politics for President Trump after years of facing withering attacks from the far-left over his opposition to LGBT books in public schools that conservatives have compared to pornography. The accommodation of transgender athletes in girls’ restrooms and sports teams has proven to be another flashpoint in the LGBT culture wars and helped launch the careers of Republicans like Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, proving that Republicans can endorse tolerance without extremism and find support among majorities of voters.
