WATCH: Jill Biden Snaps At CBS Host After Reality Check On Joe’s Polling
The Biden family appears to be in full panic mode as November 2024 looms around the corner. On Wednesday, First Lady Jill Biden found herself at odds with CBS during an interview that shed light on current polling surrounding President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.
During the interview, CBS host Tony Dokoupil pointed to recent polling data from The Wall Street Journal, suggesting that Joe Biden is trailing in key battleground states—a critical indicator as the election season heats up.
The notion was promptly challenged by the First Lady, who insisted that the president was not only holding his ground but was also showing signs of improvement and even leading in some areas, despite what the polls say.
“No, he’s not losing in all the battleground states! He’s coming up and he’s even or doing better!” Jill Biden asserted, firmly pushing back against the prevailing narrative of a struggling campaign.
The Wall Street Journal’s polling indicates a different story — a closely contested race between former President Donald Trump and President Biden.
The poll has Trump leading President Joe Biden in six of the seven key battleground states for the 2024 election, driven by widespread voter dissatisfaction with the national economy and significant concerns about Biden’s effectiveness and performance.
Yet, according to the First Lady, the choice for American voters will become increasingly clear as the campaign progresses. “Once people start to focus in and they see their two choices, it’s obvious that Joe will win this election.”
The surveyed states, identified as crucial for the upcoming election, include Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina.
Trump’s lead ranges from 2 to 8 percentage points in these states on a test ballot that also lists third-party and independent candidates. His advantage remains similar in scenarios where voters are asked to choose directly between him and Biden.
These states, which could very well determine the outcome of the next presidential election, show varying degrees of support for the two candidates.
Trump’s advantage ranges from a 6 percentage point lead in North Carolina to a narrow 1 percentage point edge in Georgia. Meanwhile, Biden is reportedly tied with Trump in Wisconsin, each commanding 46 percent of the support among surveyed respondents.
The electoral battleground paints a complex picture of the political landscape, with both camps vying for every possible advantage. Joe Biden secured victories in six of these states during the 2020 presidential election, with former President Donald Trump winning North Carolina.
However, the WSJ poll revealed a significant portion of undecided voters, ranging from 13% in Georgia to 8% in Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. Furthermore, participants were asked to assess the presidencies of Biden and Trump.
Results also showed a higher approval rating for Trump’s tenure, with an average of 51% of respondents expressing approval of his performance, compared to 38% for Biden.
Meanwhile, Trump exhibited strong leadership on pivotal issues such as the economy, inflation, and immigration and border security, according to the poll’s findings.
