Deli Gets Flooded With Bad Reviews Once Its “Offensive” Sign Goes Viral
A deli in severe need of staff made the bold decision to put up an attention-grabbing help-wanted sign. Customers were shocked and turned to social media to criticize Jason’s Deli over their hiring process, leaving dozens of one-star reviews on various restaurant review platforms, despite the fact that the sign clearly states how much someone would earn if they had various qualifications and did the job with passion.
The Jason’s Deli sign announced that it was “Now Hiring All Positions.” It is said that “minimum wage equals mediocre person.”
The sign then lists the requirements for employees based on the hourly wage they would receive if hired to work at the deli.
As an illustration, a person earning $9 per hour might be in their “first job” and be “willing to learn.”
Someone with “some experience” who is “efficient” at work is paid $10 per hour.
Someone who is “reliable” and a “multi-tasker” will be paid $11 per hour.
A worker earning $12 per hour is “better than most” and “brings zero drama” while “working like two people.”
A person who is quote “supervisory material” is offered $13 per hour.
An employee that is “never, ever late, cares as the owner does,” and always “brings positivity to the environment,” receives $14 per hour.
Someone who “outshines and outperforms the owner” is paid $15 per hour while performing “all of the above” duties at lower job levels.
I.G.Y. Azalea, the user who posted the picture on Twitter, described the deli as “Jason’s Deli in Melbourne, FL if anybody felt like letting them know how much this sucks a**.” Numerous people have criticized the deli for the way it recruits job candidates as a result of the post’s widespread success on restaurant review websites.
Another statement made by Azalea was that they “saw this (offensive sign) at a deli in town. This doesn’t really set well with me.
More than 73,000 users on Twitter concur that this sign was inappropriate as of right now. The Tweet was shared by 6,300 more individuals, and 5,5000 people quoted it in other tweets.
The hiring procedure at Jason’s Deli was criticized as needing improvement.
Math proficiency is in doubt. For instance, shouldn’t someone who “works like two people” and is “better than most” receive more than twice the initial wage rather than simply 1 1/3 times? Furthermore, if capitalism is a meritocracy and he “outshines and outperforms the owner,” shouldn’t he be awarded the deli?
“This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen,” another user tweeted. How are you going to make ends meet working in a deli for $15 per hour?
Someone else said, “Just because someone works hard doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a livable wage.”
The deli hasn’t yet responded to the viral sign or the negative feedback it’s gotten as a result. Given the bad feedback it has gotten, it is uncertain if they will leave the sign up or take it down.
What do you think about Jason’s Deli’s decision to put up this sign?
